1945 - 1960 

1945 was the starting of tractors in India. Eicher was the first indigenous tractor that assembled in India. In the mid-1940s, during the war, tractors and bulldozers imported for farming and land reclamation. To encourage the tractor industry many central and state organizations came into existence in 1947. These organizations took many steps to develop the supply and use of tractors and farm machines. 1960 - 1970

During 1960 - 1970, the demand for tractors and machines increased, whose benefit gained by tractor companies. The annual production had exceeded 20,000 units to 146,000 units, which is a huge gap. 

1971 - 1980

1971 - 1980 was a green revolution era for India. The Indian government launched the Green Revolution program and mechanization needs enhanced demands for tractors. To complete the initial demand for tractors the Indian government started importing from the Soviet Union and its Eastern Bloc Neighbours. During this period three companies came into existence.

1981 - 1999

During this period many manufacturers came with excellent tractors and farm implements and made farming work easier. Some companies are still in existence and some are not. 

1999 - Present

During 1999-present, many tractor brands came with innovative and excellent tractors. These tractors provide high yield and improve the condition of farmers.
